Just One More

Just One More Scoop

For this lesson, we did printmaking. We had to make our scoops using jelly plates, brayers, acrylic paint, q-tips, and stencils. We picked out an equation, and had to have that many scoops. We had to have at least one scoop with a design using a q-tip and at least one using a stencil. After creating our designs, we glued our ice cream cone and scoops to our piece of construction paper, then wrote the equation and our name on the front. Throughout the lesson, we worked on adding one to a number under five.

Extension Activity: This art project already contained an extension activity--adding one and a number under five. However, this could be altered to adding different numbers other than one, or subtracting numbers. Another activity could be creating word problems to coincide with the ice cream scoops. For example, Maria had five ice cream scoops, but two fell onto the sidewalk. How many ice cream scoops did she have left?
